Celebration at Cupids Haven Tea Room, 6PM - 9:00PM, November 2, 2019
Context: A Little Matrimonial History
Joe Burton and Carole Partridge were united in holy matrimony at three o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, October 31, 1959. The officiating minister was Rev.Whidden, and the ceremony took place at Carnduff United Church in Carnduff, Saskatchewan. The reception took place in the church hall, catered by the United Church Women (UCW).
The Wedding Party comprised the following:
· Sharon Chrest – Matron of Honour
· Penny Daum – Bridesmaid
· Bob Swayze – Best Man
· Ralph Partridge – Groomsman
Joe and Carole spent their wedding night at a hotel in Estevan, which is 91 km from Carnduff. The next day, they drove to Corning and Handsworth to visit Joe’s former pastoral charge. They returned to Carnduff and were driven to Winnipeg by Carole’s father, Bob, to catch the flight to St. John’s, followed by the drive to Burin, where Joe had begun pastoring after his June 1959 ordination.
And the next sixty years, as they say, is history…

It was a perfect and warm November day in Cupids!

Fit for a banquet: the Tea Room at Cupids Haven.

Although their anniversary was on Hallowe'en, the big celebration took place two days later in the picturesque town of Cupids, Newfoundland -- the oldest continuously settled official British colony in Canada, settled in 1610.
